Ahhh...Camping, part 3

Part 3: hiking...heading back to camp after tons of fun fishing.

The sun was setting very quickly so we rushed back to camp to make some dinner.

We have plenty of chairs for everyone, but mom's lap is the best.

Cuddling by the fire.

Waiting for burger boats...simply one of THE best camping foods ever!!!! Place a hamburger patty in the center of a piece of aluminum foil. Put about 2 tbsp. BBQ sauce in the center of the hamburger, top with cut potato chunks on the burger and sliced baby carrots around the sides of the burger.

The carrots take longer to cook than the potatoes so be sure they're around the outside of the burger. Sprinkle with Lawry's season salt and wrap up in foil. Flip it over and wrap it again in foil so you can flip these over in the fire. Cook for at least 45 min. Top with shredded cheese.

I wish I had taken a picture of the finished product, I'll have to do that next time, but trust me these are seriously delicious!!! Very filling and reminds me of roast...mmmm!

Roasting marshmallows before bedtime.

Waking up the next morning, everyone a little more tired today.

Our campsite. Several campsites were very muddy, but not much mud elsewhere...and surprisingly we managed not to have all our kids covered in tons of mud on this trip.

Wrestling with daddy, trying to wake up our really late sleeper KW.

Eggs, sausage, and cantaloupe...another GF meal that's normal food, see a GF lifestyle can still feel really normal.

KW decided to become a superhero of some kind as he chased IK all around. Don't worry, he could see through the hat.

Time to start packing up.

On the drive home we stopped at Lucky Peak reservoir for lunch, another local fun spot I had never been to before. It's a great place for fun day trips for water skiing, swimming, picnicking, etc.

It was very hot so we really enjoyed cooling off in the water before loading back up in the car.

Such a fun weekend!!!

Ahhh...Camping, part 2

Part 2: fishing...beginning with SD laughing at EJ telling him that on her school camping trip she caught several bass (but not pronounced with the short a sound, instead she said it with the long a sound, as in a singer that's a tenor or bass...it was pretty funny!).

Getting all the fishing poles ready.

KW's ready to go!

Setting out to the little camp store to buy some bait.

Waiting for dad.

KW with the old grandpa dog that lives at the camp.

More hiking up through some trails.

See I still managed to workout while on vacation, lifting an extra 35 lbs. while hiking! Even though it was around 6:00pm we managed to see a huge deer that jumped across the trail right in front of us.

The trail opens up to this huge meadow before continuing on into the woods.

Over the river and through the woods...or in this case, through the river to the other side.

And around to our fishing spot.

Crossing one more bridge to walk down to where daddy and IK are standing.

I don't know what it is about LA, but she's so unbelievably photogenic that I just can't help but take a million photos of my beautiful little girl.

Adding bait to the fishing poles. SD normally loves to go fishing all alone, to get away by himself...which he did on several occasions on this trip. But this time he was very busy and outnumbered 4 to 1 as he helped all of the kids load bait onto their fishing poles, get the lines unstuck, helping them cast, and unhooking the fish they caught. It was fulltime job!

KW thoroughly entertained by all the huge rocks he could pick up and throw into the water.

Scarlet enjoyed the water too. This was the very first trip we've taken her on and she did so great the whole time!

Then all of a sudden LA caught her first fish!

SD helping EJ.

And pretty soon she caught her first fish too!

IK trying a different spot.

And then the girls kept catching fish one after another.

EJ caught two and LA caught 3 fish. The boys didn't catch anything this time, but they still had a lot of fun.

Daddy helping KW learn how to fish too.

So much fun...so many wonderful family memories. The fun continues...
